Clinton Kirkland Improvement Corporation

2025 Year in Review
Delivered at the CKIC Annual Meeting on January 29, 2026

2025 Projects/Highlights

  • Welcomed three new board members: Tom Gilroy, Lorraine Kinney-Kitchen, Jess Thomas
  • Served as project sponsor for two DRI-funded projects: Lewis Clinton Townhouses on McBride Ave and the Small Projects Fund. The originator for a third project (Kirkland Ave Apartments) chose to forgo DRI funding. Subsequently retained LaBella Associates to assume oversight of the townhouse project.
  • As required by NY State, retained LaBella Associates to assist with the administration of the Small Project Fund (SPF). An ad hoc CKIC Project Review Committee selected 13 projects (from an original list of 24) to receive a share of the $600,000 allocated for building renovation, signage and awning improvements, and small business assistance in the designated DRI zone.
  • Sponsored weekly drawings during the summer to encourage local shopping during the road reconstruction project on Route 12B; received approximately 750 entries over six week and selected 30 who each received a $25 gift certificate. There was one $500 grand prize winner.
  • Had representation on the Clark Mills Strong coalition that raised $50,000 for emergency response following the deadly tornado in June.
  • Organized two meetings for community leaders (village mayor, town supervisor, school superintendent, college president, chamber exec director) to meet and consider community strengths, needs and opportunities for potential partnership
  • Hosted seven community conversations to facilitate public’s assessments of town and village strengths, challenges and priorities, and to assist in the development of the CKIC strategic plan.
  • Developed a strategic plan for the organization to guide future planning.
  • Revitalized committee structure to facilitate operations.
